On private Commercial projects General/Prime Contractors must file a UTAH Notice Of Commencement with the UTAH State Construction Registry (www.utah.gov/cnr/) no later than fifteen (15) days after either a building permit is issued or no later than fifteen (15) days after the commencement of start of a construction related improvement.

All subcontractors must file with the UTAH State Construction Registry (www.utah.gov/cnr/) a UTAH Preliminary Notice no later than twenty (20) after the first day providing equipment, labor, materials or services for a project OR twenty (20) after the General/Prime contractor records a UTAH Notice Of Commencement with the UTAH State Construction Registry.

Claimants who recorded a lien have up to one hundred eighty (180) days after a Notice Of Lien was recorded to begin a foreclosure lawsuit against the liened property.
